Shane Steele, Teaching Fellow and VP of Marketing at Chime, to offer free workshop
Earlier this year, the Center put out a call for industry experts who are at the top of their game and looking for a way to give back. And with that, our Teaching Fellows program – which invites professionals at the top of their fields to mentor and coach entrepreneurs from across industries – was born.
One of the Center’s original Teaching Fellows is Shane Steele, VP of Marketing at Chime and a seasoned marketing leader whose storied career has been focused on the intersection of business and technology. She’s particularly passionate about combining the creative aspects of brand building, design, and storytelling with a technical, data-driven approach to marketing. Throughout her career, she’s applied these skill sets across a variety of companies, including Airbnb, Coca-Cola, Twitter, Yahoo!, and now Chime.
Today, she’s eager to teach entrepreneurs what she’s learned along the way, particularly about the power of data and story to inform marketing in a way that wins over audiences. This Thursday, she’s leading a free workshop on data-driven storytelling – the first course to be offered by a Teaching Fellow at the Center:
Storytelling with Data:
How to use data to tell compelling stories that break through the clutter
Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM (PST)
Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center
505 Howard St., San Francisco, CA
In this two-hour session, Steele will teach practical techniques for harnessing data in ways that go beyond charts and graphs to tell stories that connect both intellectually and emotionally to move your brand forward.
The goal is for entrepreneurs to walk away with a better understanding of how to:
- Start with your story and work backwards to find supporting evidence using data
- Present data creatively through visualizations and infographics
- Use primary research and 3rd party data in your storytelling
- Use data to develop compelling PR pitches
- Distribute your data-driven story for maximum reach
Please be sure to register for the class – space is limited and filling up fast.
